vx commodore wont crank

Hey all

My commodore doesn't seem to want to crank over, i turn the key all the lights and the stereo comes on but when i turn the key i get nothing. i replaced the battery about 3 weeks ago so that's not the issue. i had the same problem yesterday but my brother said he held the key on for a minute then tried it and it started. worked all yesterday and again this morning but just now its doing the same thing, have tried holding the key on, moving the stick in and out of park and neutral etc.

any ideas???

Have you checked for error codes?
Is the red immobilizer light flashing?

haven't checked the error codes, not sure how to do that. and the security light above the mode button is off

managed to start it, after trying like 50 times in a row it decided to work and has been working fine the last 3 times ive started it since

Could be the key sensor ring, NSS or ignition switch, all of the above are common failure points.

whats the best way to test these out, it's happening at random now sometime wont start for a couple of turns and others takes 50 or so

Sounds like it might be the ignition switch. They are cheap just replace it and see.

do thay have a nutral safty swith on the gear box ihad a valiant years a go and the swith came lose worth a look at all the conections on the gear box

So ordered an ignition switch, waited a week for it to arrive and just as i was about to install it i had an idea to check the starter relay. sure enough that's all it was
