I have recently lowered my 2005 CV8 VX V2 Monaro… I had the springs professionally reset very low. The guards do not rub & it looks great! But the bump stops are fully bottomed out!
Does anyone know where I could purchase some smaller/lower bump stops? These are located on the top of the rear springs.
Thank you!

The bump stops are probably holding the current height, not the springs!

Yip, I’m aware of that! But that’s not my question… I want to know if I can purchase smaller/lower bump stops?
I can’t believe, with the amount of people that lower commodores, that no one produces aftermarket bump stops for lowered cars!

Hey, just a bit of an update on the bump stops… so shorter bump stops are not available, & the bump stops are really just ‘covers’ over the steel spring locators.
So I ended up cutting off the lower steel bump stop, machined them down by 15mm, then welded them back in place.
NOTE: The spring isolating pads cover the welds, so the welds can not be seen.
This worked extremely well, & I now have full travel again.
Car rides perfectly & got a WOF with no issues.
Cheers

So are these stock height?

TBH, I've never measured.

Hey mate, Yeah the SuperPro bump stops measure 60mm high... & as per attached image, my original ones measure about 57mm high.
So the original ones & the SuperPro ones were all made the same height... but I assume my old ones have been squashed down by about 3mm.
So if you purchase the SuperPro ones... it will not help!

Only way I found to fix this... was to cut the bump stops off (bottom ones only!) & make them a bit smaller

I've attached a picture of the rear drive-height
... took a heap of guard rolling & removal of the plastic inner guards etc...
But it does not rub, & drives as smooth as ever!

Curious, what bottoms out first, the bump stop or the damper

As for the dampers, what are you running?

Hey Mate, The bump stops are still first to 'bottom out'
But I honestly haven't felt it bottom out since I cut the bump stops down
After the bump stops were cut, I tested the 'travel' & with the bump stops touching each other... I still have about 15-20mm travel left in the shock.
To ensure the springs are still captive & enough travel, I purchased & installed: Monroe GT Sport - rear shocks (part number 15-0566)
And Monroe GT Sport - front struts (part number 35-0576 left & 35-0575 right)
The car rides just like the original shocks (not too firm).
And rather than purchasing 'super low springs' I just sent my original springs to 'Archers Auto Springs' (Rotorua NZ)... & they set them to whatever you request.
From memory I lowered the front springs by 45mm & the rear by about 65mm
