I have read a heap of posts. But all slightly different to mine..

I have a HSV XU6.

Only have the 1 key for it.

The other day for no reason what so ever I can tell. Tried to start it. It fires as normal. But wont stay running. It dies straight away.

Other interesting thing. The locking and unlocking of doors. the remote unlocks the doors fine. But wont lock them.

I sent the key head off to a bloke I found on ebay. He has supplied a new head and coded it for me. So battery is charged in the head. Before and after replacing the key head this problem was exactly the same.

When I go to start the car I can hear the fuel pump prime. and yes there is fuel in it lol.

Is it maybe BCM? Or ignition key? Or something else?

Thankyou!

so. I unlocked the car with the key. then I wound down the window. (electric). put key to the on position. Hopped out the window. Then waited 2hours. Then put my hand through the open window and the car started fine.

Does this suggest that the BCM is stuffed? Imoberlizer issue?

Cheers

I can't really help much, but have you tried resetting the computers? Disconnect the battery for half an hour then try. It might not work, but it's free so why not.

It could be the BCM. The symptoms you described are the same as when my BCM stuffed up.

You could try re setting the BCM.

Turn on the ignition. (Red lights on dash only).
Pull the BCM fuse.
Wait about 20 seconds or so and you will hear a series of beeps.
Replace fuse.
Turn ignition off.

Just a thought.

Or....Believe it or not,
you can re set the ECU by removing and replacing the fuel pump relay (Ignition off).

bcm for sure, my vt gts was doing the same thing then just stopped and couldn't be started. replaced bcm with brand new one and removed the hsv iss and put an after market alarm on that uses the same key head much better imo.

Just on these things as well, when you turn the key around and the dash lights come on, Does the red blinking light for the alarm turn off?
(From memory it's up near the mode switch )

you said this problem was happening before you sent away to get a new key, As far as i remember the guys who Pull info off a key and put
on to another need a working key to do so. if the key you sent had problems then fair chance the key sent back will be exactly the same.
