VY SS cutting out

Hi guy's have an issue with the SS

for some reason when driving along it seems as if the throttle starts working on it's own as if cruise control is holding it's current speed even though cruise is not on,
when it does this if i try to put more throttle on the car will completely cut out then fire up again, it has only done this a couple times but no idea what would be causing it, any ideas guy's?

UPDATE

While driving home today it started doing it again, but this time held 2500RPM, with no throttle applied, try stabbing the throttle thinking maybe frayed cable to no avail
i did notice that when it's doing it the temp gauge stops working?

UPDATE:

think i have sorted it....i changed MAF back to my old 1 and problem seems gone.
