Hey all,

Long time between posts!

Quick question:
Does the VY ute roof lining fit the one tonner? I assume so, but thought the tonner lining might be longer?

Thanks for any assistance.

I think it should be the same. The rear window is the same. The pets bin was heavily used with cab chassis models.

Anyway, you’d be better off redoing your existing liner if yours is shagged. A good condition second hand one could just leave you in the same situation next year.

You can use VZ or VY tonner.

Look after it. There’s not enough of them left. Sometimes I think there’s more H series Tonners around compared to Commodore.

Cheers,

Yeah, only 100 made in V8 manual.

Trying to get her back in shape after a bit of no care factor from previous owners.

317k's and the LS1 and T56 are still going strong.

Drives quite well too.

You can get nice faux suede headliner.
Looks the shizz.
I think it was @NORTI that got me onto it. It’s actually identical to what my new Santa Fe has from factory.

I’ll find my Crewman headliner posts for you…

When laying new liner.
• Use 3M adhesive. 70 or 90. (I’ve had many others fail)
• cut the area of fabric required.
• don’t cut the shape required.
• lay the fabric out and softly rub it down and shape it a bit with your extremely clean hands.
• Pull one side back to the middle and lay over the other side.
• spray a strip on both surfaces. Avoid heavy spots. (They can soak though!)
• get your glue free clean hand under the folded over bit and rub it across the glued strip. Not all the way.
• Then spray another strip. Work it down with a glue free clean hand.
• carry on until half is done.
• rub any glue off your skin and keep checking as you go.
• then repeat on the other side.
• Once glued you’ll have lots hanging over the edges.
• That’s where you clean your hands of glue again. Rub it off.
• get good fancy scissors (buy some) $30 fiskars scissors from Bunnings tool shop.
• trim the edges so there is about 30mm out from the headliner all around.
• Cut a V shape at corners so it folds over nice.
• don’t cut the V point all the way up to the headliner. Do it about 5mm back.
• then spray the glue onto the edges facing it from the middle of the headliner outwards (then you don’t accidentally spray the good side.)
• leave it for a while (a few hours)
• install.
• admire your handy work.
• rub your clean hands across it to make patterns.
• hold the steering wheel and look up.
• say yes. That’s a good job.
• get out of the car.
• close the door.
• give the roof a pat and tell yourself what a great job you did.

Get a polish onto that while listening to the cricket and drinking cocktails for refreshments and that is going to look mint!

Give the wheels a spray with wheel silver. Even better.

Get some Tinted Opel Astra indicators. E4 compliant. These have reflectors like the WL had.

Or

These were factory on Opel Astra/Vectra in the Europes.

(There are many Opel parts on Commodores)

You want grey (not charcoal) if light grey roof.
The black of course for black interior.

I retrimmed my two VZ Crewmans with black. One was grey one was already SS black. I did the pillar trims too.
If they are not fabric covered you could easily use vinyl dye spray to get them factory black.

Get some sound deadening to do the roof with it. Get onto Car Builders for that.
