I've got a VZ Lumina (might he equivalent to executive or acclaim or anything else without c/c)

Anyway, does everyone else with a VZ have an extreme loss of power with the air con on? And a super loud fan noise? Otherwise, what should I be looking at to fix?
Cheers

Haven't noticed any obvious drop in power when A/C in operation. Yes the fan(s) will make some noise (remember there are two of them - one low temperature and the other high temperature. When both are running it is possible to hear them (a) whilst stationary at lights (b) when parked n the carport about to switch engine and A/C off. If still concerned or in any doubt, take it to an A/C Specialist (not a Dealer). Good luck.

Get at least a couple quotes.

Make sure you know the prices of parts etc so you have a fair idea

Indication, I had to pay $1000 to get mine sorted. V8 though the compressors costs more, also full service and flush on system etc

Could've maybe saved a couple hundred buying parts myself but just wanted it sorted.

Make sure all parts are genuine and new.
My example is only a example, hopefully your situation is less costly

It's one of those things, needs gas in it to check if it can run, then diagnose from there.

the air-con on my VZ Executive stopped working suddenly (just south of Cloncurry) - a real bugger on a long trip.
Went to an auto-electrician, who had a good reputation for being handy with air-con, and he had it sorted in minutes for $40 -
he said the VZ has a common and recurring problem blowing one of the relays under the bonnet.
He pointed out that mine was not a GM part - so it had been replaced once before - that is, before I owned the car.
I had no further problems before I sold it.

I just mention this because rather than put up with it, it might be a quick, inexpensive fix.
