Vz Berlina With Sheet metal in the boot????

Hey Guys,
I am looking at buying a Vz Berlina and i have found one i really like. The only problem is that it has sheet metal around the spare tyre in the boot. Does anyone know what this is for??????

wouldnt hav a clue mate that stuff wasnt in my berlina when i got it.. is it covering the jack?

No it is not covering the jack.

Do you mean the sound deadening tape? Just ask if you can take it to a panel beater for them to check if it has been in a rear ender. My car has that stuff in places, not sure if it's there though. I think it is for sound deadening.

Yea that's what the car salesman said. But i am getting the Racv to do the once over on it before i hand over any money. So i will just have to wait and see what they say.

Just looks like sound deadening tape, maybe there was a vibration from that area that the previous owner noted.
At least you have a head start if you decide to up the ante on your stereo equipment as sound deadening would be one of the first thigs to carry out.

Sounds good i was looking at putting in some subs in anyway.

You will find it is heat insulating tape to stop heat from the muffler under the car in that area transferring to the spare tyre area.

Mine doesnt have that!!!! & so are alot of other Vz sedan wheel wells ive seen.
