Vz 3.6 crewman
Hi All.
First time post on here.
So I have a 2005 vz 3.6 manual crewman,that developed a miss.
Did the usual,Replaced plugs ,coil packs ,injectors.
No joy.Was told its could be the ECU.
Read a few threads on here from years ago, about having some luck "splicing wiring,on the wiring harness yo get around the problem, rather than spending precious coin on replacing ECU.
Any help with this would be appreciated.

Cheers .

We’ll get together. Have a few laughs.

VZ Crewman, VZ Cross 8, & ya mum.
Engine misfires are caused by a lot of things.

Worn accessory bearings are one cause listed in a Holden tech bulletin as an example.

It can be valve issues

It can be injector faults

It can be vacuum issues

It can be wiring issues

It can be new cheap coils.

It can be counterfeit spark plugs that look exactly like the genuine item.

I say this until I’m blue in the face everytime.

Step one:
Disconnect the negative terminal.
Go through the entire engine bay and clean all the bloody earth points on the harness. These cars are pushing 15-20years now and surface oxidisation and corrosion between mating surfaces will give you grief.

A small brass brush and some CO contact cleaner. I’m not just talking about the battery earth terminal. I’m talking about the little harness earths. Especially the 8 pin earth plug that is behind the battery. The 7mm ECM earth. The main battery earth on the engine.

Clean all the harness plugs with CO contact cleaner. Unplug them first.

Once we know the earthing is good, then we progress to the battery health.

Have the battery load tested and it’s health checked.

Splicing worked for me, until two more went, in the end the whole engine was running off the pulse from two cylinders
