Hi guys, i recently have discovered a problem with the vz. Car has factory lpg, and we have been runing it on lpg, but the petrol seems to be disapearing in it. When flicked over on petrol it is obvious and you can smell it runing on petrol. But we have been runing it only on lpg and the petrol seems to be disapearing. There are no odours of fuel leaks, no obvious leaks from tank, but it has got me stuffed as to where the petrol is going. I don`t know much about these factory fitted lpg cars. Do they start on petrol first then flick over automatically to lpg? It doesn`t smell like its runing on unleaded on first start up, and you can hear the gas solenoids click. Does anyone know what is happening or have any ideas?

Also i should note, the car stopped on my missus this morning, it was on lpg at the time and showed it still had a 1/4 of a tank lpg, but petrol was low, it wouldn`t run on either fuels. I took a punt and went and put 10 liters of fuel in it and she started, then it ran on lpg. So im guessing perhaps it must start first on unleaded?

It may be dual fueling - as in using both. You may need to get the system checked.

The factory LPG system starts on petrol then switches over to gas when the correct temp is reached. In the aftermarket system you can hold down the gas switch and force it to start on gas. Also you can get it plugged into the computer to change its start up procedure to always fire up on gas not sure if Holden would do it, but probably a LPG specialist would do it for you

Thanks for your reply, i have researched it and ive found that it could be the temperature fuel sensor/sender, as it needs to get to warm operating temperture before they flick over to run on lpg. So would you happen to know where the sensor is located?

As you are dealing with an LPG system I suggest that you should leave it alone and take it to an authorised LPG Mechanic. Compressed gas is far too dangereous to play around with. Get it wrong and you could end up killing innnocent people and probably yoursel,f too.

The temperature sensor you are referring to is located on the reducer assembly. The reducer assembly is located directly underneath the gas ECU.

Thanks mate, is the temperature sensor a small black module? It would help if i had a picture of what to look for. At the moment i have just had a quick look under the Ecu without removing anything.

What ever mate, i use to work as a diesel mechanic on trucks, so its not like im not mechanically inclined, its just that this problem with the lpg isnt the norm. And in many cases lpg is much safer then petrol cars, people who think they are more dangerous are mislead, at least you can switch the gas of at the valve on the tank, petrol just keeps coming out and works on gravity.

Is it a plug in or in the gas line.
