So I thought it might help someone if I post some detailed pics of the Kermit style gauge pods found in some VY and VZ Commodores.

I have these out right now so it was easy.

These will only fit high end centre trims that are fitted with the compartment in the top. So Calais, Statesman etc.

@figjam has been trying to nut out an unusual set up in his CV8, so might be good if he posts up the end result when it comes together.

Normal trims will use the after market unit that has a flat wide top to it with the two holes for the gauges.

I have ordered a setup from JHP, who have 'guaranteed' that the volt and oil gauges will fit a VY with climate control, same as HSV VYs.

https://jhp.com.au/shop/interior-ac...e-pods/holden-vy-sports-binnacle-instruments/

I don't know what is under the facia on VYs with climate control, but mine has very little room to fit gauges, that is why the SAAS pod won't fit.
It could be while before I get them apparently, Melbourne Covid lockdown etc, but I will post up the successful (or not)

all VY use the same genuine pod, and it suits the standard VZ also, just the VZ with climate is different, wonder what gauges jhp are using as vdo stopped making them many years ago unless they get someone to remake them as it looks like the oil sender is vdo, we may have 1 genuine hsv pod left but no gauges when the genuine gauges sold out we were selling the kits with the vdo titanium series

@figjam has been trying to nut out an unusual set up in his CV8, so might be good if he posts up the end result when it comes together.

Done today. The JHP pod and kit was not a head bang for the auto sparky. All went together easily ....... I had been anticipating her comments to be "What a b*****d of of a job. Not doing that again ! "
The only work required from me was to fit the oil pressure sender next to the filter and remove the glove box.
What had me concerned was that the SAAS gauge pod, and the JHP 'Pontiac GTO' pod fitting instructions recommended / required cutting out a piece of composite board to fit the gauges when the the centre dash cover was removed.
That was not the case, the board did not require cutting. :)
So .... happy chappy ..... looks good, and I think these gauges should have been standard on high end models.

That is awesome that you did not have to cut anything. Some guys here in the US have had to cut the pad a little to get the pod to sit flush. I will be happy if I can get lucky and not have to cut anything on my GTO.

Thanks for posting mate. I couldn’t figure out why mine won’t fit but now I realise I’m missing those little stainless clips ‍♂️

Using the SAAS pod, in a VY non climate control, I had to cut a small amount of dash away to fit my pressure and boost gauge as they are mechanical not electronic and needed the room to prevent kinks

I'd imagine with electronic gauges this is less of an issue
