Centre bearing isn't that hard to replace, the cost of the bearing btwn $35 > $150, depends on who you purchase them off.

Possibly a whole tail shaft will cost double that from a wrecker, and you could still have the same centre bearing issue later on,
Keeping in mind that some tail shafts do attach to the diff yoke differently, so you would need to get the correct one.
I have never had to swap tail shafts, so I can assume Sedan and Wagon Tail shafts could be different,
I stand corrected if I am wrong, another member may be able to advise.

Just replace the centre bearing. If you aren’t prepared to have a go at that, you should be focusing on replacing the drive shaft with a sedan drive shaft.

Neither option are easy if you are not familiar with working on cars.

If you bugger up the bolts holding the drive shaft onto the diff, you are in for some hurt. Make sure you have the correct tools rather than bodging something.

There quite a few of these kinds of videos. I’ve used this one as an example because he does things well the first time. He also has form when it comes to working on cars, planes, and 4WDs.

This is a good way of damaging the uni. When I had my shaft rebuilt they told me they see stacks of people bringing in their shafts for new unis after they have used the hammer method. Once you damage that uni there is a world of financial pain, as it is a specialist job to replace them. There are limited places in the country who can replace the uni so it would almost definitely be a trip to Adelaide if you stuff it.

Honestly, I would pulling the shaft myself and finding a place who does the centre bearing using a press. It will add $50 to the bill but could save you 10x that.
