hey guys as title suggests im having weird intermittent electrical issues after troubleshooting i think its a grounding issue as when i measure in amps from negative of battery to ground point i am getting 1.5 a now we know what the issue is how do i fix it ?? i have already disconnected and cleaned the lugs on the chassis but that hasnt helped are there multiple grounding spots throughout vehicle ? is there anything that states where abouts all the grounding points are so i can check them all or what have you guys done that has found to work ??

TIA

Best to get hold of the Service Manual and look at the Electrical drawings,
They do have the cable routes and indicate the grounding points.

Depends upon the actual fault,
What you could try, is making up you own ground link/point under the bonnet, or use the existing one under there, just add to it.
Make a decent size cable up with terminals on it, and link the Engine to the Body,
Then start running your tests, because the body and engine will be one potential to start testing the looms.

I covered doing this exact job on mine in my thread for my Cross8 VZ With the LS1.

There’s a major earth behind the battery.
There’s the earth under the wiper cowl that earths the firewall.
There’s one on the drivers side cylinder head.
I think there’s another on the other side but can’t recall off the top of my head.

Whats the electrical issue?

And why are you measuring amps instead of resistance? I have to ask if you know what you're doing here?

Only thing that really causes bad ground is a bad ground

I got this from under the car.

Main engine earth.

Remove the wiper cowl and the earth strap under here will be easy to get to.

This had minor oxidisation on the mating surfaces and threads. New bolt and nuts. My other two VZs were the same.

(I moved this one to the next hole down. Yours will be the one above.) this had minor oxidisation on the mating surfaces.

This is a major harness earth point. Mine looked fine until I removed it. The terminals in the connector needed a clean. The thread and bolt in the body were oxidised.

Hi Fu, understand that you can use the can to clean the contacts, but what do you use to prevent them tarnishing again? WD40? Inox MX3?
