VZ SV6 Auto trans jumping down gears. Unwanted problem!

Ok. don't know the history of the car. Picked it up today very very cheap.

Anyhow. Driving. 1st is ok. Slow to shift out into 2nd though.

But when driving at about 70kph. it slams back down into a lower gear. And revs its guts out!....

Any other ideas?

Have you checked fluid level/condition?

I haven't as yet. Got the car about an hour ago haha. No dipstick because its the 5 speed auto box. I believe they you have to check underneath

Take it to an Auto Transmission Specialist and get it serviced. Probably find it's been flogged to death and the fluid 'cooked' !!

Could also be throttle positition sensor
