If I replace the TCM, does that need to be matched by a technician (or OBD2 interface) to the car?

I ask because where ever ECM, PIM, BCM and key sets are sold, they never seem to include the TCM.
-----------------------------------
My issues with the car throwing codes like it's a sport continues.
I have now been learning about the sensors and why they produce codes and of course, just because a code is produced does not mean the sensor is faulty. There is a whole lot of stuff that goes on before a code is thrown.

One person that has been fascinating is Paul Danner on Youtube.

Fault finding tech is kind of cool.
------------------------------------
Now at a point where an ECM or associated must be the fault.

I am going swap out the computers with another set to see if that eliminates the issue.
Of course, there is the possibility that I am importing another problem, but, for $200 for a set v far more dollars for technicians to charge way more to only tell me a sensor is gone.
------------------------------------
My problems started after a radiator was replaced and I suspect an RAC mechanic has shorted the positive terminal while connecting or disconnecting the battery, damaging the computers. (I did find an old code for unexpected voltage buried in there.)

Tell us how you get on. I went through the manual and as far as I can see there is no mention of de-linking the TCM before removal or re-linking. Don't take that as gospel, but strangely it seems as though it can just be swapped out.

Are you looking at computer sets from V8's? They don't come with a transmission control module vt-vz if you've been looking at those.

For V6.

It must be as 99 Notout said.
I figured there must a reason computer sets are not included with TCM's.

I found a set on eBay after trying to source a set from local wreckers.
I have a crewman, so not sure if finding a crewman BCM, ECM, and PIM is needed?

The set I have found has the same BCM level and number (588).
The PIM on mine now has 621
The set I have found has a PIM marked with 129.
Would that matter if I am getting the whole set (including key) from the same model?
