3.45 for a bit of nip with similar economy.
3.73 for the perfect all round (good luck finding some for a decent price).
3.89/4.11 for serious wheel spin, much better acceleration and burning more fuel/generating more rpm.

Look at how many revs you do at highway speed, divide by 3.08 then multiply by the new ratio to see the revs at the same speed with the new diff. As said above 3.45 will give more grunt with minimal excess fuel. 3.7 would give you even more grunt, but the higher you go the more fuel you'll be using.

I do 500km a week on the highway and was having trouble deciding but I think I'll go with 3.45 lsd.

Averages when on factory rims/tyres doing 100 kmh give or take;

1850 rpm @ 3.08 to
2350 rpm @ 4.11

I drove to Sydney and back yesterday and as naughty as it was sat on 2300 rpm most of the trip. Fuel was about 10L per100 km. Most of your extra usage comes from the more spirited nature a higher ratio will encourage. That said the argument for more revs is less load.

i had a look at a holden stock spec sheet and aparently these are the diff gear ratios Ratio: 3.08 : 1
im eaither thinking 3:45 or 3:73 i want to be able to spin my heels easily and i still want to have a good amount of range in my tank for long trips

My preferred are the ones I just bought, 3.9, only cos they were a bargain. Would have gone 4.11, but I'm chasing a 12 second 1/4.

If you want wheel spin in a n/a barge, then 3.9/4.11, but if I were you I'd save up for some 3.7. They're perfect. If the cash isn't an option if settle back to a 3.45, same as husky.

I'm probably going to get a truetrac, so the price between ratios isn't that bad. I was expecting the fuel to go up more, but 10l with a 3.9 doesn't sound bad, I get 8.6 now. I might consider a 3.7 knowing that.

I have fitted 3.46 gears to my VT SS and it does about 2000 rpm at 100km from 1800 rpm with the old 3.07 diff. 200 rpm difference might not look that great but on the road the improved acceleration is really good and noticable, especially when the auto kicks down to 3rd which the engine revs 2300rpm@100km. Fuel usage really hasnt changed that I can tell. Another plus is the engine doesnt seem to feel it is labouring anymore as well as the rear wheels chirping into second gear when I take off from the intersections....priceless
