My dad said the "checkpower-train" warning light is coming on during long trips, could anyone suggest what could be causing this? It's from an automatic VT V6 97 model.
Sorry to triple post but i think i found out what a few of the codes are...
I think the 19 may be a throtle position sensor stuck
48 is a cam or a crank angle sensor
85 Transmission slipping difference between engine rpm and transmission output rpm
29 is a Exhaust Gass Recirculation sensor
Any information on these would be greatly appreciated... I cannot believe that there is so much wrong with the car, is there a way for reseting the error codes to check if they come back?
error code 85
Transmission slipping difference between engine rpm and transmission output rpm
You can clear the codes by disconnecting the battery for about a minute.
Then take your car for a drive and check the codes again, they may not reappear indicating an intermitent fault.
There's no errors now after i went for a quick drive by the car feels really ****ed, it's lacking in power and sometimes it changes gears poorly, when i first turned it on i had to wait a while cause every time i went to put my foot on the gas the car acted like it was about to stall, after that it worked but with limited power.
Should i just take it straight to a mechanic or should i take it for a longer drive and see what hapens?
