one of my mate ws likke that, he didn't beleive that the hq/hj/hx/hz/vb/vc/vh cars came with a trimatic trans with a 4.2 or 5.0 he reckon they wern't strong enough at all to handle them.
i showed him though cos my sle is a 4.2L and has the trimatic in it.

LS1 - 346 cu inch, smaller bore. different firing order. nothing interchangable with the chevy 350. alloy block/heads etc etc etc

It means Injected. All the 5.0L fuel injected engines were called the 5000i.. i standing for Injected as in efi I believe.

actually for those people saying the LS1 wasnt seen untill the series 2 VT, your wrong also.
it first made its appearance in some of the series 1 VT senator signatures i believe.
