As the title says, gave the car a wash and it was only a quick spray under the bonnet trying to avoid electrics. Now the thing is running like a hairy goat. Replaced the spark plug leads. The miss seems more pronounced under load and there is an occasional clunk as well.

Would a timing light work on the individual leads to try and work out which Coil pack if that was the problem work?

Any ideas?

Yes, its a good way to check. If the timing light is not flashing then the plug is not firing.
Also try unclipping the connector to the DFI module and drying that out with compressed air, if that doesn't fix it, remove the coils from the DFI (2 bolts) dry that off, if that does not fix it do the same with any other connectors you can get too as well (fuel injectors).
I usually find that driving them will cook off the water, but not always.
If all else fails check the computer for error codes.
