Hey Y'all,

im guesin you guys are aware of FOWLES AUCTION GROUP.

I'd go here and there with mates just to check out when, "SALVAGE PRESTIGE AUCTIONS" are on. And sometimes you'd see the odd old burn out rusty shells. Everything is pretty much gone. except the engine. Which is pretty much wasted as well...

And now brings me to my question....

If the car is burnt out and rusted is it possible to use the panels, doors, boot lid etc. If the rust is removed??

Thats all i can possibly think of... is there any other uses for these old shells??

Any feed back would be a great help

Thanks again,

Cheers,

technically i spose you could use the panels, but it would be alot of work to repair them if they are rusted out.
i dont know whether you'd be saving much money in the long run to bother.

Hahaha!! Mike, I love your sense of humor. You're so sarcastic.

Auctions can be good. Just make sure you know exactly what your bidding on. But as far as whats salvagable off a burnt wreck..Well, I guess it all depends on how bad the vehicle itself is burnt.

Pajero LWB Wagon, Power/economy what's that ???
Exhaust manifolds, Discs, springs any other solid steering or suspension parts.
Unless the heat has been enough to melt or distort the panels these parts will all be good enough to reuse. Price a disc or manifold for a BMW and you'll understand why these cars are usually snapped up and very cheaply.
Panels, doors etc can and are used if they are not distorted. Doesn't take much to remove the surface rust and redip them (galvanizing or other).
Mechanic I use bought a 750 BMW, burnt, for $300 and made about $2000 on it from a wrecker.

Sometimes a burnt wreck has that part you need and its good... Most things are strong ewnough to withstand heat from a fire... restore junkies...
