Wounder how many k's on the clock now 7 years on? The first number is outside temperature ( W= winter ) 0w,5w,10w,15w,20w, I go with 10w or 15w in Victoria with 40 semi synthetic, all round oil that way, if you live in a cold environment like Canada in winter or Russia the lower number is better for flow in cold weather, Penrite do 40 plus 10, high km's you can go 50 even 60 if your keen, but after 400,000k's on the clock.

We've only used the Nulon 20/50 its entire life and she's still purring at 340,000 ks and just recently we've started using the Nulon high kilometer 20/50, don't know if its any different to the normal Nulon 20/50.

I've heard a few conspiracy theories recently that oil companies are selling the same product with several different labels. Don't know if it's true or not, but could be a move to combat all the hate from know it all types against products like the multi vehicle transmission fluids.
Wouldn't put that Ford **** in my Holden etc etc..

Conspiracy theory? Would they do that? Of course they would. It's called marketing.

Yep, funny looking back at the old advice. Original Ecotec motor just crossed 340000km. Still running amazingly smooth. Was running Nulon 10W40 Full Synth with no issues other than a half litre top up between changes. Switched to Penrite 10W40 Semi-synth at 320000km, no changes to how it runs and the leaks have slowed a bit, only a 250ml top up between each of the last two changes.

I've changed to Penrite 15w-40 full zinc mineral oil and its' running smoother than ever with an engine that just past 240,000km and is either driven hard (me) or stuck in traffic (missus). I think it's saving grace is it's daily commute is 1/2hour plus each way so it's always up to full operating temp.

Yes I think you're right. Longer trips and proper servicing keeps engines running smoothly for years longer. My VE was originally a fleet car for its first 3 years. Did 200km a day mostly highway. 9 years later I still get comments on how well it runs.

I'm running 15-40 diesel oil in the ecotec atm. Had a very noisy lifter when running on HPR10. No noise with RX Super.
Will drop it in another 5k time and re-assess my options.
