What is this?

I own a 94 VR acclaim
On the weekend after cleaning the engine bay i noticed this plug in feature next to the air filter box, im just curious to know what does it do?

Also I know that the VR's dont have the air flow control thingy next to the air filter box as compared to the VS's, why? i have no idea can anybody please inform me on this aswell.

I'll hazzard a guess here and say that it could be the wiring connector for the fog lights, available on SS commodores and series II calais.

I have a connector in the same area on my VS, and its for the fog lights.
