Penrite HPR30....
and I have used Penrite on all my Holden V8's since I did a camshaft (lost a lobe)
back on a VB 308 which my engine builder said was due to oil...the brand of oil...so
since Penrite...no probs...

i have done a fair amount of research and found a brand called MOTUL . i used a semi-synthetic in my vs and has worked out well.

How about for the V6, what have people found to work well. The previous owner was using a Mitubishi spec oil, I don't really like changing brands/types too often, it is not a good plan due to their different compostions. I have used Penrite in other cars but they are typically older than my VS

Agreed! you simpley cannot go wrong with Penrite / Penzoil they use both of them in racing engines and they both have a proven track record, so Use Penrite HPR30 /50 (havent used the 50 yet) my car = vs v6Gobbles said:

yeah, we run a vs v6 at home here too
i run Penrite HPR30 in it, no dramas what so ever
only thing, if you live in a particularly cold area, go with the 15, its a slightly thinner oil and will circulate quicker!
the HPR15 is 15W/60 as opposed to the 20W/60 with the 30
