Just about to get a 07 VE Berlina

What we are not sure about is if its a my08 or not

The compliance plate has nothing on it about it being a MY08 and the car was built in July 07

Cheers

If the build date is July 07 then it's a 2007 vehicle. If the build date is Jan 08 then it's a 2008 vehicle. Nothing difficult about that.

Except the MY numbers don't necessarily mean anything to do with the year...

Do you have 'agreed value' insurance? If so it isn't going to matter what year you call it, just insure it for what you paid and each year the insurers will knock a bit off to refelct the market price of replacing it.

nope. you can get 07 build cars that are 08 spec. I'm not 100% on the Berlina range, but on different car makes there is definitely a difference on an 07 (08 spec) vs an 08 (08 spec).

here's a copy paste from this very forum to 'decode' your vin. may give you a better idea on what you are actually buying by trying to compare.

.....here is the way to read VIN plates
for example:
6H8VXV35F1L123456 Here goes:
6H8 is World manufacturer identifier (6H8 is holden)
VX is model code
X is luxury model (K=executive,L=berlina,X=calais)
35 is body style code (69=wagon,35=wagon)
F is engine code(A=3800 V6,F=Gen 3 V8, R=3800 V6 supercharged)
1 is model year code:1=2001,2=2002 etc
L123456 is the sequential production number, also called Holden 'tag' number

Yeah they do, that's what MY stands for, Model Year. The compliance date is the model of the vehicle, the build date is just the build date. If it is an MY07, then the features of the car are 07, regardless of the build date. The compliance date determines the MY of the vehicle.

Car yards use both dates, they use the compliance date when selling and the build date when buying.

Looked at the VIN number on the car and nothing matches up with what you say
