What VN series do I have?

G'day,
I have a VN engine and am trying to work out what series/year it is, The information I have is: GMH V6 127kw and the engine number is 'VH10300809' Can anybody help me?

Hi Neil,
based on the 127kW, it sounds like a post-November 1990 engine - these are known as the EV6 or L27. These engines have EV6 printed on the engine block, but I'm not sure where. There's some useful information here: Holden VN Commodore review

Easy way to tell is fuel rails.

Left is S2, right is S1.

Can a series 2 have a series 1 fuel train as my engine has a series 1 fuel train?

Maybe the 127kw is a typo so what other indications would there be to identify this engine year?

Yep, but you'd have to swap out the inlet manifold too.

If the top radiator hose comes from the rear of the inlet manifold it's series 1.

There is no series one or two mate. There an update which is when the motors changed.

So don't put a VT series two badge on it.......

if the thermo stat housing is at the back then its series one. if its at the front then its series 2. oil dipstick is at the front aswell on the series 2 and as said above the fuel rails are different
