hey guys, whenever i drive up hills my vt kind of clunks almost as if for a second it stops but then keeps going.

took it for another drive and now it does the same thing but 3 or 4 times in quick succession and then goes back to normal driving. i have noticed that seems to only happen when driving up hills and kind of feels like its towards the back end of the car but me being a car noob, i could be wrong.

can someone help?

You're problem is, the car clunks when you're going up hill it seems...

Swap the coils for a good set and check that your fuel pump is okay, could have sucked air?

Most probably a miss due to faulty spark plug or lead. From my experiences it is nearly always a lead but that doesn't mean it couldn't be a spark plug, coil or DFI module. It is hard to say from your description.

sounds similar to the clunk i get when i do a badly timed change to petrol from lpg. its just the drivetrain clunking in my case. i guess i starve the motor sometimes when i changeover, and it stops running for a split second or something. so.... maybee your clunking is when u dont get petrol for a split second (maybee going up the hill causes this scenario).

Worst case scenario, transmission stuffed. I had the same problem a few months ago, clunking, esp up hills under load. I replaced plugs, coil pack, no joy, then I thought, what if it is the tranny? bought a very low Ks VX tranny and got my bro's mechanic to fit, flush and replace filter and gasket. No more clunking, yeehaaa! I have seen some of the members on this and other forums suggesting that it is the clutch pack in the trans or the converter failing. Fixing those problems costs more than replacing with a known low Ks good tranny. By the way, the car has been from Sydney to Queensland and back since the change and did not miss a beat.
