Just purchased an immaculate set of VS Berlina alloys (for show purposes) as ours have ROH ZS 16 x 8 rims. Will the standard 12 x 1.5 nuts for steel rims be ok ?

I think the wheel nuts for steel and alloy wheels have a different shape (although the wheel nuts themselves are both made of steel).

If the wheel nuts you have are the stock 12 x 1.5 open ended nuts with the tapered end on them they should fit perfectly on those stock alloys. Pop one of the nuts onto the wheel stud hole on the alloys and it should fit perfectly into the taper of the stud hole.

Cheers to the replies....the stud holes have steel inserts so guess ordinary nuts should work.

Your spot on...found a "standard" nut for a steel rim and the length of the taper is to short i.e. the corners of the hex interfere with the stud hole as the nut is tightened up. I ended up finding a 21mm nut that has a longer taper so that it sits snugly in the stud hole with no interference from the hex edges....thanks for pointing out.
