read the book just parts or parts peddler it has heaps of companies that just sell efi 5l u can usually grab one for about 1500

does sound cheap. id imagine thats with no box, no loom and no accessories.
way to go would be find a crashed V8 (say VT etc)
-use the engine, loom and acc's.
-use brackets, bolts etc you need.
-sell the rest of the good bits of the car, interior etc etc. and you might make a fair chunk of your money back.
i saw a vy ss go for $5000 on ebay. 16000k's had the front corner wiped off (stat write off- cannot be repaied for registration).
engine out of that would havebeen mint and the rest of the parts would haev come very close to covering the cost. (if not a small profit)
