Which Paint To Use To Repaint Ecotec V6 Engine Cover To Original Silver Tone?

My engine cover is in need ofa respray... theres some threads on customizing, but no one has stated what to use to bring back original tone.

paint comes off to reveal black undercoat / plastic primer...

Just goto Autobarn and they have the racks of spray paint which match car colours.. The blue racks..

Look at the swatches and try to find one closest to your paint colour.. It's about $10 for a small can..

Close as you'll get mate..

I would think that you would need a good flexible additive in the paint which would mean a good quality 2 Pack enamel. With the small amounts you would need go to a panel shop & get them to match & supply it. They would also be able to help you with the preparation proccess. My painter mate is on holidays still so I couldnt tell you any more for a week or so.

I've done this before. Gave it a slight rub back and then good clean with metho. Then used a heat resistant paint from VHT specified for engine covers or something. It comes in a good silver same as the original colour and it hasn't budged in over a year. Top stuff.

Yeah, I agree with Blue alliance...........I have just done it with my VX and it came up a treat.
