I've been thinking of doing a white light LED conversion instead of blue since it's so common and I'm not really feeling it. I had some thoughts yet I dont know if they're accurate. So what if I just took off the green film from the cluster and aircon and took off the green selves that are on the standard LED's like the mode buttons and PWR etc, would this work just as well as the stock green or would there be some complications?

Ive heard the green film can be difficult to get off i put white leds in a cluster before it was nothing flash but so much brighter than the standard globes if you get them get them off ebay and get the ones with your little dots on them they are super bright and while your at it buy 2 extra and put them in your parking lights

If you were to remove the green film, You would be left with warm white. Using the standard bulb's.

If you want to go white, I'd suggest do some soldering and install SMD's.
That way you will not have hot spot's, And the light will be alot more even.
Using plain old LED's in the standard spot's, You will be left with a somewhat dull display.

I wanted to be diffrent, So i made this up.
Went from this

Not the best picture, But you get the idea.

Big upgrade from the standard green.

Instead of just using the standard bulb location's, I spread SMD's around inside the cluster.
I went with white and blue, But if you want just white, Then you just use cool white SMD's.

Only takes about an hour of soldering.
Result's are worth the wile.

If you have a basic understanding of electronic's, Then you should have no problem's.

You just use the PLCC-6 5050 SMD's.
10PCS NEW White 5050 PLCC-6 Car Vehicle DASH SMD SMT 10000K LED Lamp Light Bulb | eBay
Ebay has a good range of colour's for cheap.

Placement is the key.
I just mapped out the dial on the circut board and placed the SMD's in that location.
I tapped into the illumination input where the plug is solderd to the board.

I used 15 white and 8 blue SMD's to get the result's that i have.
Extra 3 blue for the LCD, You can use standard LED's here.

Each have there own resistor, 480 - 560 ohm depending on how bright you want the display

To get the green film off the back, You just use fine sandpaper.
You don't need to worry about scrubbing any of the number's off or anything horrific like that.
Number's are printed on the front, Green film on the back.

I have done a few SMD conversion's on all diffrent car's (commodore Camry ect)

Don't worry to much if it does not work out the best first time, You can always go back in and alter thing's.
Once you do one, Each one after that will be easier and easier. Look better and better.
