wiring bung

So ive decided to pull everything out of the engine bay to clean it and im having a bit of trouble with the wiring that goesfrom the fuse box to undernath the dash. there is a massive ass rubber bung in the firewall that's holding two looms in place and i cant budge it.... id rather not cut it off if i can avoid it. has anyone dealt with this thing before?the car is an 84 vk vacationer

They go hard after a few years. If you can't budge it, give it the chop as a new one is about $8
