Removed serp' belt, started car, noise STILL present! AH HA!
Thanks wamboin23 and ephect.
Noise defo coming from front and lower area of engine. Removed cat (meow), noise still present on gas and petrol.
I suspect it may actually be me oil pump, dammit!
Previously I did think it was my water pump, so removed belt, checked bearing float(movement) which is not excessive. They don't really spin freely on or off the engine anyway so you can only really check for bearing movement / noise.
How do I know this? Cos I went to an auto shop on a quiet day and asked very nicely if I could check the bearing feel on a new pump; pretty much identical between mine and theirs.
And it's pretty unlikely that it's the front main engine bearing cos if it was making noises like that it 'd surely be f----ed by now!

Could be the harmonic balancer - rubber centre splitting....may still squeak without belt on if it wobbles. Don't think an oil pump would squeak unless it was dry of oil which would be just before the engine seized???...
