VE's are rapidly heading south to hitting the bottom of their value cycle. It's all because of the fact they were built for 7 years and the values between an 06~07 car and an 013~014 is vastly different. Many 06,07 and 08 cars have suffered from the dreaded timing chain failure and the repair cost is nearly more than the car is worth unless it's a high end variant eg. Calais etc.

It seems to be a cycle that happens.
They go down in value, then when people start to want to relive their youth they go up in value.
As they are old, parts aren't as easy to find, But eventually they seem to get remade.
Have seen it in other areas of society too. Old bike parts especially. you think cars can be expensive for small parts.

On the plus side, they made lots of them, so parts should theoretically still be made or available to a degree.
Might be a bit of searching but itll get there. Somewhere youll find one.
And atleast it wasn't a limited run version where they only made 50 or so with some model specific parts (from experience that gets expensive :()
Try finding the tyre pressure monitors for the VZ HSVs.

I guess its the hard thing to be willing to say "I have to accept the circumstances".
When you drive them daily they are going to develop issues to fix.
Will be interesting to see in a few years what happens though. As they were right in that cycle of people getting a disposable income to relive their youth.

But yes, there will be people trying to make a good dollar out of those who want it or need it now.
If its a daily it sucks. if its a weekender and can wait its not quite so bad and you can have the patience to wait.

I get that, early VEs are now 14 years old, and basic ones are not worth repairing, but it was still sad seeing a car which had so much promise, and the last of the family line heading for scrap metal.
Another thing that makes me sad , is a house about 1km from us which must have 30 VT/VZs sitting in the front and back yard, in metre high grass, covered in leaves and mildew, open windows, rotting away. Apart from the lack of red dust, could be just a yard from any of those outback communities.

Try auto salvage recyclers at Lonsdale...Was there about 6 months ago and the owner said he is throwing complete VR/VS's away because he's got no room to store them

Exactly throwing them to the scrapers. Because he wants to keep space for the faster movers like VE.

Problem with people these days is, they rely on the internet for parts and the people that actually find these parts rape internet users for the "privledge" of them finding them.....

Yes NOS parts are getting hard to find for older cars, but that stands to reason....The line has to be drawn somewhere.

As someone that loves his old cars (I'm talking 30+ years old), I have found striking up a network of people with common interests often help get parts...Even heading out of town, that's out of surburbia, you quite often find older cars sitting on old joe's farm and pick them up for nicks....Geez, I know where there is about 6 VR/VS Commodores sitting on 1 property, that I can buy cheap parts off right now...Not to mention some wreckers

Oh and people can say, time is my enemy...Well, that why these people that rely on internet users rape them.....

A mate actually pointed me in the direction of 4 early commodores...1 VH, 2 VC's and a VB.....The VB, I bought for $100, the VH and 1 VC $700 ea and the 2nd VC I didn't get a price....The $700 VC appears to be a factory vynal roof car.....That place also has 1 VR/VS Commodore there too....So they are around and cheap

$100 for pair of nos bonnet hinges they'd be handy to have if it doesn't cost you a windscreen first.

    $200 for one side? nah!!!

Seems to be that anything with a Holden parts sticker on it is a license to print money to some twats, especially if they have an eBay account.

Best you pass your contacts details onto me, so I can pass the information onto them. I won't post peoples personal details over a public forum, so best you message me, seeing you won't allow others to send you pm's and you refuse to respond to my replies from the initial pm you sent me back in December

What's wrong with the ones you know about on the pinnaroo road or the one at thompson's beach? I bet they don't exist...You're just posting just for the sake of posting in response to my postings....Be nice if you replied to my pm's

seems you cant read numbers and interpret them as useless postings rather than information for OP's :)
May I suggest some info for you to help your understanding of OP postings :)
