G`day folks
I been cruising the boards here for a few days now but cant find an answer for my thoughts. I`ve got an 06 VZ wagon with all the symptoms of ecu faults, i1ve been jumping the starter relay contacts to start it after its been off fo half an hour or so. I have seen a great post by Lout giving a detailed description on how to wire it to work again. My problem is i dont want to start messing about with the harness right now. I had a thought about bypassing the relay that i want to pass by the experts in here, would it be feasible to run a couple of wires from the start relay contact points (86 and 87 i think) by running a couple of wires into the cabin and fit them to a button or switch? Would that cause any long term problems?Would i need to have a fuse inline, if so what size do you recomend?
Cheers all

the contact tips are high current
so you will need switch and wiring capable of handling that
anything else you run the risk of starting in gear

No worries about the wiring and the switch, i built custom truck bodies before i did my back in so wound up with plenty of 24 volt high draw goodies. How do you get starting in gear from low draw wiring (probably a dumb question i know)
Cheers mate

I was just thinking about puting a switch in instead of having to remove the relay and bridging the two pins on the fuse/relay panel with a piece of wire. I dont know if that would over-ride the safety lock on the trans.

OK, thanks guys. I will take your word for it, all this electronic/computer stuff beats me every time. If i do it i`ll have to take care to make sure its in park or neutral.

Best way i've found when i have the start issue is take plastic off start relay then just need to use fuse cover lid to activate relay

until you start it in gear one day and watch your car drive off without you
