ZB not NG?

Ok, i clearly never watch the news.
But last year 'the NG commodore is coming' 'it's not a Commodore' 'blah blah blah'
This year its all 'the ZB is here' (not news talk ZB for the kiwis) 'it's not a Commodore' blah blah.
So when did the model designation change? What did i miss??

NG was 'next generation', while ZB is the official model designation.

Nah won’t be a ZC I’ve already got one of those as my bank balance can verify. Released years ago.......

To answer your question, I got no idea.

Opel Insignia model is just "B" (the A seemed to last a bloody long time....)
Just like the Opel Astra H became Holden Astra AH, they add another letter.
