Hi Does anybody know how to refill the automatic Transmission oil in the Ve 5 speed Auto after draining the sump auto oil. The auto has not got a dip stick, has the transmission got a plug on the Trans to refill oil. Holden recommend Castrol VI oil very expensive $100 for 4 litres. Any ideas would be appreciated. The service book states Auto's 5 & 6 speeds are checked by your holden service dealer. Any ideas how!!!!

I was going to do it once, but to do it properly apparently it needs to be setup to a pumping machine to pump the oil through the gearbox. holden wanted 600 for doing it.

I was under the impression the Trans oil didn't need to be changed any more as the oils are life time oils?
Unless its had work, a hard life or damage.

Found out how to refill Auto after changing filter and casket. You fill Trans through plug on auto and keep pumping oil in till it just starts to run out. The Ve 5 speed takes 4.6 litres of oil use only VI trans oil.

So is this something that needs to be done then?
My dad is doing the engine oil change in my car tonight, but do I need to worry about this as well? :)

the fluid should be changed every 20thou km regardless of what Holden or your log book says. trans fluid will carbon up the filter if left too long and can cause blockages in the valve body as well. I've seen the damage caused by old fluid. there is no such thing as a long life fluid. fully synthetic fluid is better but expensive as the box will run cooler but it still needs to be changed at the same interval as normal fluid. heat and friction destroys fluid of any type eventually

There is a flat plug, T45 female type plug at the rear left hand side back of Auto box to drain oil. Damed if i can get it to undo, wont budge has anybody got an idea to get it undone as Iam not game enough to pull sump off as i cant undo plug to refill auto. I have broken 2 quarter inch adapter socket to get it undone has anybody done this successfully.
