Hey guys,

Does Holden know more about HSV's than a normal mechanic?
Do they have like special equipment made just for HSV's?

The reason is that i wanna take my car to the normal trusted mechanic that i have been to for the last 3 years. I have just got HSV XU6 and i'm scared that he might no have the "special equipment" that Holden Dealers claim to have!!!!

Need help here guys
Regards

rofl, yes make sure they have the special 1st year apprentice like holden that changes your oil and doesnt do your sump plug up tightly after doing so, or that 1st year apprentice that somehow hits the hoist and scratches your bumper.

Seriously though, take it to your own trusted mechanic, service will be cheaper and more than likely more reliable

I'm inclined to say YES.. Holden will use parts that are designed for your car. They won't substitute it with a cheaper item..

An example, when Holden do my oil change they use LPG oil. I took it to a fairly large sole proprietor mechanic.. He used just normal oil.. Holden have access to a larger number of parts and WILL know more about your specific model's requirements..

You're better off doing it yourself though.. But my answer is that the Holden dealer would be better then your mechanic..

Im with minux, stick with the mechanic you know & trust. As long as he's qualified there should be no warranty issues as long as he uses genuine parts.

well i would take the HSV to the Holden dealer.
most holden dealers has a "specialised" HSV service representative and they use experienced mechanics that have worked on Holdens and HSVs for a while.

FYI
dont know where your located scbh81 but i know that the City Motors in Perth has its own service desk for HSV where the same guys handles everything and the mechanics at the back are only specialised mechanics.
they are also renovating the old JEEP centre next door to make it a HSV ONLY "MEGA CENTRE" where they will sell and service HSVs ONLY

And yet you will still pay through the teeth for a simple oil and filter change :(
