There are likely a tonne of threads on this topic already but simply catback are a good place to start. Most off the shelf systems do a good job for this, like redback or difilipo.
Cats are a worthy upgrade but can be pricey for hi flow aftermarket cats. Try get some from a VX clubby and open them up to 2.5 in the inlet/outlet.
Headers are a good investment over the stock SS cast jobbies. Again clubby headers are around for cheap or go the aftermarket headers like pacemaker or Difilipo. There are many varying opinions on this but generally there are tri's and 4-1's. Im told tri can give u more down low and 4-1's more up top. Unless you planning big mods later tri are good. If you plan to open and mod the engine later with cams, heads etc 4-1's may be a good option here. 1.5' collectors are good for auto and 1 5/8 ot 1 3/4 are well suited to manuals.
Another extremely cheap option is to remove the rear resonator from your existing system, it makes it louder but not necessarily better sounding. And can create terrible drone.
Look at around $1500 for a full header, cat, catback system on a budget and as much as $3500 if you splurge.
More importantly aa well flowing exhaust will make a big difference to the power of your SS and well as the sound.
