Electricians dont climb power poles are linesmen allowed to change power points I didn't think they were allowed past the main switch?
Where I use to work for 30 years the last 15 years I was a Special Class Maintenence Electrician, payed big bucks (have a Diploma of Industrial Electronics with Control Engineering )( very good of fault finding) that includes PLC, (Program Logic Controllers) Yes I was a rare breed, I was involved with Electronics and I was involved with 11,000 Volts. Now one of my duties beside working in a High Voltage switch room (authorized to do this) I was license to
switch to up to 66Kv and in this as a example I HAD TO CLIMB the power pole via a ladder, prove the 11Kv is dead for the poor Linesman and for the Normal Electrician to see that he might have to run a conduit up the pole with cable so the linesman can connect. Yes had to prove that the 11KV line was off and safe to work so the workers can work close to the 11Kv. Put it this way I had to test the line that is safe + put EARTH STAKED yes 3 off them on the 11Kv line.
Have you notice I talk about my Satellite hobby that is very very complicated, full of complicated Electronics You dont get a average Electrician to know or do this work, you have to be a specialist in Electronics but at the other side of the scale I was a specialist in HIGH VOLTAGE.
Its very hard to find a person that has a broad knowledge that far apart.
