could you make a hydrolic clutch up for a VN S1? is it worth it?

I honestly wouldn't botherJust more parts to go wrong and look after. I can say, after a night of cruising around in my Stato with the cable-driven T5 clutch, that it doesn't get much better than this. You can't beat the direct, mechanical, analogue feel of a clutch cable

as Morton said.
its not worth it.
Clutch cable is the best.
you can feel the response through the pedal.
thanks for the positive rep too guys.
much appreciated
mite have just found myself a manual conversion its a getrag box so its got a hydrolic clutch so is this going to lead to any problems?
cheers reece

Wow what a mission doing it on your own fitting the gearbox and trying to pull the cat back to the exhaust manifold... But happy as and well worth it in the end.
Got to do some fine adjustments to the clutch and that's about it but she's pretty close.
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 5 speed, instead of a boring auto...
Oh and cheers Foamy for the great tune!!!
I forgot to say also thanks guys for the guide, I used bits and pieces as short cuts that helped me make it more simple.
Cheers.
Yeah i wasn't going to bother with it anyway just wanted to know what you people think about it cause my mate wont shut up about them.
I love the VN VP auto kick down cables over the VR how they have the electronic kickdown its so delayed but in a VN VP when you want it to go somewhere and plant it it takes stuff all time, so i am looking forward to the cable clutch![]()

regardless of what gearbox you have, you make it work with a hydrolic or a cable clutch. it just MIGHT take some modding, it varies between cars I guess.
Haydz or someone could you please help me out with this...
I connected the speed sensor signal wire to the main run that goes from the ECU to the dash without cutting it and it worked fine for a day now today it didn't want to show thw speed anymore like it was disconnected and have cut the wire from the ECU and it seems to be working fine...Why did it work like this for a day then all of a sudden it stope and I had to cut it?
Reason why I wanted it like this is because this is how it is on the manual loom.
Any idea's?
And what do people experience with the signal code high and low idle and bad fuel consumption? Can someone tell me what actually happens?? I want to know in case it is happening to mine since that code light has been turned off.
Thanks.
hey guys great how to, luckily i didnt have to do it tho. i bought a vp that has been converted to a manual. the only problem is i dont have reverse lights due to the old auto plug. i know that the pink with blue and green wires are the ones i need. do these have to go on a specific prong? and the third wire, what is that? i tried the p/b and green wires on each prong but no go with the lights. any help?
Connect the pink to one prong on the reverse switch and the green to the other. it does not matter what way you do it. it will work. it is a switch. it lets current pass through when its open and flow to the lights. make sure you dont have your boot up. i done this and wondered why the lights weren't working then realised they were on the boot lid lol.
wavez. you got the memcal allready?
does that mean you have a spare.
umm the high low rev is it will rev up and down a little bit not drastically like 2 grand but if you watch the tacho you will notice the needle moving up and down.
and the bad fuel consumption. that only happend after you have done a few hundred kays.
Well that sucks.
The bad fuel consumption...after those few hundred km's did it throw a code? A light on dash?
you sure it's the vss code 24 not a auto code?
Haydz, i was going through the write up and everything and i asked some questions and think you got confussed with the Qs and gave me wrong answers, i was going to swap the manual flywheel with an auto 1 and i did it with the wreckers and got some more goodies i then got the CRS adaptor plate and now i am stuck with an auto flex plate not a manual flywheel![]()
Now i need to go back to the wreckers and get it back it they still have the manual flywheel :P, I thought it sounded weird ditching the manual flywheel and keeping the auto i didnt see the picture of the adaptor kit and thought it might have came with a flywheel type of thing but yeah now i'm up sh1t creak, i'll see if i can get it back and finish off my manual conversion i hope so, if i cant is there anywhere else where i could look at getting one?

you can buy them from clutch places as far as I know.
Hey man castlemaine rod shop sell new ones. they arent cheap. or easy to come by.
because you need a series one. flywheel that narrows it down to 88-89 models and there were not many manuals produced.
yeah i must have got confused about what you were talking about.
Its all fine misunderstanding no hard feelings, I got the flywheel backi just told the wreckers i wanted it back and need it for the convertion i'm doing. but what happened is i swaped the manual flywheel for an auto flexplate and a manual plastic surround and rubber boot around gear stick but yeah, i got to keep the plastic surround for nothing so thats great, and manual conversion is just about done, it should be done today

i hooked up the two wire and still no go. i think i still have the old auto gear selector thing. its a round bit of plastic with a lever out it i can move. only starts when its at a certain spot. anyway to get around this?
wouldnt it be a good idea to use locktight on the flywheel bolts to?.
whoah i havent looked at this thread in age's.
Remeber if you cant find a S1 flywheel to use with the adapter, buy the custom flywheel from CRS that will fit onto a S1 auto crank.
Also when ordering flywheel bolts, make sure they give you the right ones. I dont know how many times me and haydz had to make trips to holden and back!

hi, i have a vr commodore wagon, i fitted the gearbox, and all rest of manual parts needed, i couldnt get a vr manual harness and computer from anywhere, i emailed countless places and called all the wreckers in brisbane. so we decided to follow your wiring mods to keep the auto harness. so far i shorted the neautral safety like you said, my car now turns over, just wont start, is this because of the memcal is not for manual engine? or do i need to do the speed sensor and the whole lot to start it?
thanks guys
