Talking Old mans new ride (2007 Subaru Forester XT Luxury)

The car has been changed!!! No longer a Liberty Spec. B unfortunatly...

It is (now) a 2007 Subaru Forester XT Luxury.

-2.5lt turbo (WRX motor... Not the STi motor)

-Auto, but triptronic whatever its called.

-Full black leather int. + sunroof (massive sunroof!!)

    -Momo steering wheel

    -Full electrics

    -Climate Control

    -17" Alloys.

    -Xenon headlights

    -'Urban Grey' in colour

-Tinted windows, along with "privacy tint" on the back windows which is noticably darker

    - 2 driving modes: Economy (feels like a 4 cylinder with only half ifs cylinders working), and Sports mode (which is its 'normal' mode)

    -Constant all wheel drive

    -Kms when purchased: 000,010

Well unfortunatly we got offered more for the SS than I can afford to pay, and I felt bad ripping my own dad off so its being traded in

I at least get one more drive in it though.

The suburu doesnt have as much grunt as the ss obviously, but has pletny of go And I tell ya what, it's probably the only car that im happy to be seen driving other than a holden (in that price range )

Its a really really nice car. Unfortunatly its not a holden, my dad test drove a ve calais v v6 and didnt like the feel I absolutly loved it... sad not to get the calais, but glad to get the liberty (if that makes sense )

    But wait... There's more!!

    But that's not all!!!

I didnt get to drive it because one of the guys there came with us on the test drive (although he was more than happy to let my dad have as much fun as he wanted, I couldnt drive it )

My thoughts as a passanger, very smooth ride, the billstein (sp?) suspension is pretty tight, but still very comfy... Seats are really comfortable, has really good driving positions (i did adjust the seat for myself to see what its gonna be like ) Umm.. Gets up to speed VERY quickly, but you dont even notice untill you look at the speedo. Very nice aesthetically inside and out. Body roll is pretty minimal, going around a round-a-bout at around 60ks it felt like it was only doin 20 (in regards to the car not feeling like it was going to roll over ).

From what my old man said, Steering is VERY responsive and very light, you can really tell the difference between the 3 drives, on the other hand, one of the 2 criticisms he had about it was its turning circle, he thought the vy had a better turning circle. The other criticism was the leg room for back seat passangers, but the way the seats are designed that shouldnt be too much of a problem.

I have convinced my dad to let me take it out every now and then, only problems I have to overcome now are the new P plater laws (stupid vic!!) and the fact that RACV wnot insure anyone under 40 for that car LOL how stupid... I know just car would, but that means getting my da to change insurance companies blah blah.. But I will work out a way! And I cant wait...

    But wait... There's more!!

they are extrtemely nice driving cars...make great daily drivers.

Although I think it's stupid that they are slapping the Spec.B designation on the automatic. It's just a GT in theory. The Spec.B everywhere else have the 6spd manual.

very nice car the libertys are...i nearly thought of one when looking for a new car but the SSV won out.

did your dad choose to take it as is and run it in himself or did he pay the little extra and have Subaru run the engine in on the bench before they install it so as soon as you get it you can flog the guts out of it without any worries???

    Ok.. I got some news...

I'm pretty disappointed... but I didn't really have a say in any of this.

There was some sort of confussion with the Liberty, and they brought over the wrong car... No idea how that happend.

Anyway, as a result, my dad went in to subaru and didn't want to wait another 2 or so weeks for the right car to come down, and after some discussion he changed his mind, and went for the Subaru Forester

Its still a nice car... Not much compared to the liberty, but I suppose its ok.

Its still a 2.5lt turbo. However its the WRX motor, not the WRX STi motor that was in the liberty. However, the forester is in fact a bit lighter than the liberty in regards to performance theyre pretty similar... Plus the Forester has a LOT more potention when it comes to doing it up.

The sunroof is absolutly massive, We got full black leather with grey carpet/roof lining (as opposed to the standard white/beige leather and beige carpet/roof lining).

It has 17" alloys, and a different sound system to the liberty... not as good.. but still pretty good.

We're getting it in the same 'Urban Grey' colour.

This time the car is actually coming in on a ship lol... and they said we should have it before the 20th of this month.

If a mod could please change the title of the thread to "Old mans new ride (2007 Subaru Forester XT Luxury)" I'll fix up the rest of the thread accordingly

I'm pretty disappointed, but still cant wait till it gets here

    But wait... There's more!!

Theres these three kits you can get... XA, XB, and XC ... Each increases power, changes breaks, suspension etc etc.

The XC ($6500 Approx.) kit is a bigger turbo etc... Alot of forester owners end up going for these kits... And the forester looks awesome a little lowered as well. So the potential is there but yeah, its still a nice car

    But wait... There's more!!

lol, your in trouble if they are quoting rwkw. It doesn't matter, I'm simply telling you that there is far more potential in the Liberty...not that it matters now.
