Getrag Dual Mass Flywheel Spring Specs

When you say freeplay do you mean how much it can be turned easily without it springing back? Or the total maximum distance you can twist the flywheel by hand - the problem I have with this statement is how hard am I supposed to be twisting it?

do 1.98 roller rockers acheive good results with stock exhaust

Forget about the T/B because you dont need a bigger one yet and put the extra money into getting a proper set of roller rockers - the 1.95's from yella terra. Forget the 1.98 flat tipped ones. Yes you will notice an improvement straight away, it will be an improvement right across the rev range...

My Yellow VK 3800 & VK Berlina 304

Nice job! It reminds me of my first car... the owner after me did a buick conversion and I wanted it back haha. Should find yourself a digital dash cluster, those things are very under-rated. It was my favourite part of my VK

    [Ecotec] stroking an ecotec

It's always a little bit more rewarding I think. Of course I'm not saying they all need embarassing, but you always come across one or two who think that buying the V8 automaticaly makes them some kind of engine guru. They fear what they dont understand and love to put down anyone turning a...

Getrag Dual Mass Flywheel Spring Specs

Can someone tell me how much movement is allowable for a getrag dual flywheel. I've got one here that I can twist slightly by hand and it springs back nicely, I think it's in good nick but is there a limit listed in the manual or something to determine whether a flywheel is getting worn?

    nathans VS Calais

I guess you'll find out whats required when you pull the box. But before you pull the box you better get under the car and make sure that the coolant is actually leaking from the rear plate. It'll prob be dripping out of the converter cover if it is
  13. V

    nathans VS Calais

They leak both oil and water... That plate on the back of the engine holds in the oil around the crank with the rubber seal (the rear main seal) but it also has to seal 2 nice big water chambers at the top left and right. Keep in mind that the water chambers are under pressure and in my own...

How do I get my indicators to flash at normal speed after swapping to led lighting?

Ok guys I'm re opening this discussion because the same issue has caused me some unusual problems... I think I've hurt my electrical system! I really need help with this one!!! How do I get my indicators to flash at normal speed after swapping to led lighting?

I'm running clear headllights that tend to show all the globes in the front end pretty clearly and this makes the indicators look stupid with big orange bulbs sitting in there... anyway my solution was to put some led indicator lights in there which looks brilliant now because the big orange...

    Un-Restricting Air Box?

It needs to be done in conjunction with a bunch of other intake mods, and it is only for a modest gain but, yes. I used to use this air box lid on my old VN and I was more than happy to switch it over to the VS when I got my first one. Since then I've taken it to the next level... I won't be...

    [Ecotec] Compression after head shave

Elwin, your the man! Thanks for going to the effort for me. I did something similar, assuming that the volume was taken from the cylinder and used a couple of different calculators (Ended up with 9.7 and 9.8). I didn't think only 15thou would have that much of an affect. Yeah I was just after...

    [Ecotec] Compression after head shave

I know it wont be accurate but I was hoping that someone who has been there and done that could give me a rough guestimate. Just some kind of ballpark figure. To me, 15 thousanths of an inch seems like sweet FA of a difference considering there is like 4 inches of piston movement and a fairly...

    [Ecotec] Compression after head shave

Thats the problem... I didn't CC my chambers before putting the heads back on. On the compression calculators i've tried I was getting about 9.8:1 which sounds like too much of an increase over stock for just a 15 tho shave

    [Ecotec] Compression after head shave

Can anyone tell me how much higher my compression ratio will be after a 15thou shave off of my heads? I've tried to use online compression calculators but didn't have all the necessary measurements to get a definitive answer. Any rough ideas? It doesn't sound like much of a shave...

[Ecotec] Double row timing chain worth it?

Now I'm confused about what to do :p I think if I was putting the chain in today I'd leave the tensioner out, but since its in there now and I'm so close to getting the car to the dyno I'm tempted to just leave it for now.

[Ecotec] Double row timing chain worth it?

No i'm running standard springs with YT rollers. I went right through the engine and replaced anything that I could see potentially failing in the future and I figured that if I had to buy a timing chain at all then I may as well buy a double row chain, I wanted to disable the balance shaft...

[Ecotec] Double row timing chain worth it?

I threw a double chain in mine last month as part of a big engine freshen up, and haven't started it back up yet. Should I pull the timing case again and remove the tensioner??? Is there any benefit, I mean apart from no tensioner wear? Quieter?
  36. V

[Ecotec] Double row timing chain worth it?

I was under the impression that the tensioner was still supposed to stay with the double chain... even though it doesn't look like it needs it
