So another update....
Started fine, idle fine'ish out of work, drove down the road not too bad, still had to feather throttle, stopped at Repco, restart, no change, stop at bottle shop, restart, runs and idles absolutely perfect through town, in traffic, down back roads at a constant 110, a couple of lead foot take offs all the way home and idled into the garage, beautiful.

Restart an hour down the track, and back to its usual troublesome self again....

It seems maybe something to do with heat??

It was a warm afternoon for a change

It sounds like you are saying it drives like **** when it is cold and when it warms up it drives fautless, is that correct?
Does it have a choke?
Is the choke (if present) set correctly?

Up until that post it has been the other way around.

Drives fine cold or hot, it's only when revs are low, (idle or driving under 70kph in top gear.)

The choke opens all the way, and I never get to close it, because it doesn't really need it, but a little choke once I've stopped usually helps.

If you don't need the choke on cold starts, then it is running rich.

Only needs it for 30 secs or so, then used to idle, either way, doesn't explain why it went from running good and idling to just refusing to idle in less than a week.

But funnily enough, it's gotten a lot better over the last few days.
Still not 100% but idling more often than not.
