I haven't been able to find a post anywhere that addresses these issues .Please excuse me if I've missed them and perhaps point me in the right direction.

1. Red Security LED doesn't flash or glow at all.

2. Nothing when you try to start.

3. Dash lights come on. Engine icon gives 12 followed by 31 after jumping pins 5 and 6 on the diagnostic socket.

4. Tried putting 1.5V across the red LCD nothing .Is that the correct voltage.

5. No circuit from the key contact to the key blade. Is there supposed to be? ON or OFF?

6. I've changed the BCM and Key head for a matched set from CommWreck. no change

7. Disconnect battery for a minute reconnect no change

8. I've tried leaving it on for 2 hours Nothing.

Please help

Rob

Have you checked the wiring to the starter motor at all? Sometimes a loose wire at the starter motor solenoid can cause starting problems similar to what you have described. The security light not flashing means the immobiliser is off,so it shouldnt be causing the problem.A problem with the neutral safety switch on the auto transmission selector can also cause similar problems to what you have.Try moving the gearshift,or starting it in neutral instead of park.

hi mate,
I had the same problem mate,
was the fuel pump fuse under the bonnit,
powers the bcm.
disconnected it from the tank and fuse didn't pop again.
was a short inside the tank, I ran my car on straight gas from then on. just made sure I never ran out.

FYI - I have VS series 3 v8 ute
- totally dead engine -wont crank
- no interior light
- immob light not flashing
- key would not lock/unlock vehicle
- car stalled when was idling and would not start again
- could not hear engine/fuel pump priming

Turned out to be a faulty FUEL PUMP RELAY CONNECTION(eng bay) or FAULTY RELAY (havent changed it yet - just wiggled it)
