G’Day everyone,

My Gen3 VT SS has blower fan working on windscreen only.

Under the bonnet I found a broken vacuum line that heads in through the firewall & I'm assuming supplies vacuity the heater box flaps !!

My main concern is, I am not sure where the other end has broken off from in the engine bay ?!?! . . . . & this is now my only Gen3 car so I don’t have a backup to check out and see where this hose goes.

Can anyone shed some light on the topic for me please ??

Cheers.

The Vac line exits the cabin near the heater pipes, and goes to check valve,
then a short piece of hose connects to the manifold.

I'm thinking at the rear of the intake manifold but the only thing strange is the colour of the broken bit in the end of the hose, because the connection at the back of the manifold is black.. Edit: I'm a tad late and I'm sure Krusing is correct.

Your correct, I wondered the yellow broken piece,
As the check valves are usually Black on one Side, and White the other.

I just revisited the photo, and the check valve is in place,
I can only assume the broken piece is from the intake manifold vac port.

I'm assuming the connection at the manifold has been modified at some stage because it should be black.

Are these set ups like the v6? Do they have heater tap?
The vacuum hose coming through the firewall would go a slitter, with one end going to the engine (vacuum source) the end going to the heater tap. This is the v6 set up.

Yes, a similar setup but the one going to the heater tap is thinner and it connects to a metal connector. Could do with a better photo of the actual hose.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Time to do a bit more searching around the back of the inlet manifold by the looks of it.

It goes onto the back on the intake manifold.

Looks like manifold might need some work to get a barb back on there.

Here:
It’s going to be hard to reach back there.
It will be one of those plastic barbs that’s gone brittle.

Replace the hose and the barbs are available at SuperCrap or Robco.
