k, just curious, why couldn't someone leave? I mean, what real reason is there? Medical reasons were evacuated days ago. Sane people packed up and drove away, i honestly cannot think of any reason to have not left...

umm, Emergency services, SES, Defence Force, ect.. bear in mind some of the 'idiots' actually don't have a choice and are staying...

yes i know all those staying don't fit into those categories, and i'm not speaking for them. However i'm sure they've convinced themselves that there's a good reason for them to stay.

It doesnt look that bad. It shifted south last minute and Cairns got off pretty easy and it was a direct hit on Innisfail. Havent spoken to family in Innisfail yet but from all reports it didnt hit nearly as bad as everyone thought.

Well the damage does not look like anything like hurricane katrina did, But thats just what iv seen on the news so far & Reports, but guess we will find out further in the day just what it did. Hope everyone is safe.

Also HC Katrina hit a much more densely populated area.

I didnt lose power all night, yards a bit of a mess but no house damage

Yeah from all reports its mostly just crop damage etc.

Good news mate! It's really good news all round so far! Hardly any damage compared to what should have been done by a cat 5!
