Can a LS3 injector fail cause damage

My VF clubsport had an injector fail a few days ago & had it replaced by the dealer. but since then there is a light sounding tap from the motor. Yes, it's concerning considering. It's done a bit over 100k.

Is it stuffed?
Could a failed injector cause further damage to lifters, rockers ect. somehow?
Could it have mixed fuel into the oil thinning it out?

Im no expert but the dealer when mine failed said it’s fine to drive on will just run rough, so I wouldn’t think it would cause damage.

If it could cause damage there will be plenty of issues as almost every VF2 owner I’ve spoken to has had the injectors replaced under warranty.

Damage depends on how the injector has failed.

Total failure - stuck closed - engine runs down 1 cylinder.
Total failure - stuck open - excess fuel, bore wash, engine oil contamination.
Partial failure is the most dangerous if it's not working correctly and the cylinder runs lean.

I'm not familiar with the failure mode on the LS3 faulty injectors but I wouldn't drive it.

Mine had been cammed and tuned for about 20k km before the injector failed.

Did Holden cover the cost ?

Yes, car was outside of the 3 year warranty and originally the dealer asked for $1500 but a quick call the Holden customer service and they covered replacement of all 8.

If it fails open it can ruin rings and glaze the bore faster than you think.
