Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)

i get code 24 and my car is a 5 speed how does that work?

This is a GREAT thread. I got code 13 for the oxygen sensors I guess I should replace this eh....

I done a Google search(that most people seem to not know about here) and read what the oxygen sensor does and seem easy to replace.

For anyone who got the same code....

Why should I change my oxygen sensors?
A new oxygen sensor can improve driveability and lengthen engine life. Ultimately, you achieve a smoother running engine that is more fuel efficient

Any hints of what one to buy??? and I guess I could get one from super cheap.

When I went to pull the codes on my VS I accidently shorted pins 5 and 16, no instrument cluster or rear lights, it blows fuse 1 for anyone as silly as me=)

i shorted pins 1 & 6 (white & white with black stripe) first idiot...
anywho did it again, got 12 a couple of times so im cheering. fantastic thread

Code 44 - Oxygen Sensor Lean (O2)


my ute runs like total ass since i removed the gas system and i suspected the oxy sensor wasnt connected, barely starts and stinks of fuel when u crank it over, and pours black out the back.....

its simple to do ... just read this step by step , cant see why so many ppl have trouble

just double checked it ... now im getting Map sensor code, voltage too high. my batterys fair flat though .... reckon that would cause that issue ?

when i lose my licence it drove fine on fuel and since gas was removed its a real tart

hey guys did the check a few times and it comes up with an error 13? i understand that mean: - RH Oxygen Sensor (O2)........
but i am unsure of what it really is? Would it be expensive to fix? Will it cause any damage to my car if i drive it with the error? Where can i buy a new Oxygen Sensor? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks...

Hey Guys,

Tried to check for error codes today in my spare time, I placed the paperclip into pins 5 and 6, like it was shown. and when i turn the engine to the ON position, I get no lights at all on the dash, as soon as i take it out, everything is normal.

Any ideas?

PS. I tried pushing the pin in further/less etc made no difference.

check codes with paperclip

Hey mate

one question, did you turn ignition key to the second position?

and, are you sure you got the right pin holes, 5 and six are next to eachother both on the top row?
if you bridged 5 and 6 with a U-shaped paperclip, with the ignition OFF,
then turned the ignition to second position, the engine light should start flashing.

apart from that, im baffled.:bang:

unless the ALDL socket has a loose wire or something.
you do have to push the paperclip in a good 1.5 cm to get a good connection.

sorry i dont have anything else to suggest at the moment.

hi mate what pins do i use for a 2003 vy v6 excitive thanks
