VZ Crewman, VZ Cross 8, & ya mum.
Just drove 400km across the country, 5-up with the boot full.
V6 power seems sufficient. Trans shifts well and shift timing is good. Brakes are fine.
Temp gauge sits just above C.
It snuck up close to half with A/C on and waiting for the lollipop man at the roadworks.
I think I'll test the gauge one day with an idea to replace it.
As a person who lives in a state that you can drive at 110kmh for days and still not be out of the state, I find it interesting how 400km puts you on the other side of a country. Whoa.

North to South of Perth is just on 150kms.

Bloody NZ is so amazing and beautiful.

So drove around today with the dash displaying digital engine temp (thanks for the tip immortality) and I think it's pretty conclusion that the thermostat is stuck open.
But seeing the temp drop whilst driving and it's not even up to temp yet and air con is on, gives me confidence in the state of the cooling system. I just need to control it getting up to operating temp and it'll be great!

Earlier in the week I installed a new thermostat and gasket.
Seems the last mechanic was dodge as it had a gutted out thermostat and a 'gasket from a tube'.
So I cleaned it all up and did it properly.
Yesterday I checked digital display again and the temp was sitting bang on 90°
Perfect. I expect fuel economy will improve further, but need to reset the calcs.
Oh also need to do an oil change.

Stopped dead in the driveway this morning. Will crank fine but not a hint of starting.
I suspect the crank position sensor.
I'm feeling a bit burnt (but not really)

Spark plugs were original GM part number (unsure if original 240k old, or changed at 50k or whatever) and out to 1.7 gap (spec is 1.4-1.5) so will replace them at some stage.
Put dash into Digi mod and checked rpm while cranking it over to see if I got anything. And it started.
Maybe the terminal clean sorted the CAS? Who knows, but will order a replacement anyway.
