Aint he a toyota dealer ? have ya ever thought if it was fine when you bought it it was fine when it was traded to the yard ?? its not always the yards fault YOU bought a car with a buggered engine and thats after your mechanic said it was fine so how can you blame the yard ?

Well assuming he isn't lying, then it's the yard's fault. It's their job to know what cars go in and out of their yard. Of course the fact his mechanic had a look at the car doesn't help, but then what can you do? This happens, I've seen it happen to my mates who are salt of the earth honest people, the car's been abused to oblivion and they see it a week to a month after they buying it... turns out the seller was being a gronk about what the car's been through. I've seen instances where they've faked roadworthy's to sell the vehicles. I'm sure this happens all the time...

Im a bit suss on this. You cant hide engine knocks or a shagged transmission so why would you buy the car in this condition? You say it was like this from day 1 so youd be crazy to buy a car with engine knock and a stuffed tranny?

Yeah but there are people out there who are not mechanically minded and when they ask as to why it's making a certain noise the dealer can easily reply somewhere along the lines of "oh it's normal for this model car, they all do it" so your going to expect to get jibbed.

One instance when a good mate and I went to look at a car for him a while back. It was a vs statesman and there was a bit of knocking coming from the rear diff, whining noise, tranny held gears too long and would eventually kick into gear. And when asked his reply was "na mate it's normal, it's the way the car has been built because it's a more luxury version and even mine does it I have the same model car". We arent no fools we had an idea of problems that the car would have had but I mean if we didn't know and agreed with him my mate would have bought it I mean the bloke was also offering a roadworthy so what could have gone wrong?

If you are still dealing with this, go back to Holden and pay them for a report which spells out the issues with the car in writing.

This is then the basis for you to demand the car be completely repaired to good condition (sell it then) or get your money back from the dealer you purchased it through.

Number 39 on the list is interesting "What will my $5 get me?"
