Hi,

I have just bought a 2008 VE SS V-Series as well.

I have heard a rumour that there is an amp already somewhere in the boot....is this true??? If so, where the heck is it???

I'll be re-doing the stereo anyway, but just wanting to find that amp and maybe crank the gains a bit to get some more out of the factory setup for the time being.

Also, how much do you think your system setup has cost?

Cheers!
pm sent mate
if u want a pic i will see if i can find the one i had

nice setup tho.

having fark all tuning capability from the factory headunit which cant be replaced to something that give 31EQ per speaker...thats 4 speakers and also subs...total of 150+EQ adjustments

and the fact it processes the signal coming out of the deck and adjusts it to what it should be before it goes to the amps and then speakers and subs

go read up on it on the Rockford site before u state such a wrong fact[/QUOTE]

I have just begun a sterio upgrade install on my ssv ute, in which i have just put a new pioneer head unit in..(currently Pioneer DEH-P5150UB - which I may replace with an DEHP8850MP-SD undecided as yet... both sound excelent ) with only a few minor modifications.

Let me just say you dont realise how bad the existing head unit is until a descent head unit is installed, even through the factory speakers... the difference is massive!
I have a pair of TS-C171PRS Pioneer splits on the way.. and am unsure what amp I am goign to use yet.. tho i have my eye on a "PRS-A900 Pioneer".

As I am looking more for Quality not DOOF DOOF, at this point dont think I will worry about a sub.. the splits with good tunning the right power as well as dynmating the doors should do the job just nice.

I have only just installed the deck.. which fits nicely under the exsisting unit... in which I am leaving the center speaker connected for Blue tooth phone... just need to work out out which is the mute wire(if the there is one.. so I can hook up to the pioneer as well... I will lose sterio control fromt the steering wheel, hopefully thats it tho.

So end of the day... if you can Change your head unit... I would it the existing one is.. well average... and after seeing the effort you have gone to with the rest of the install.. well its almost a waste not to.

i'd be interested how u fit the TS-C171PRS in the doors due to the very deep size of them

well it hasnt been a waste not going a different Headunit as the processor does what a aftermarket headunit does and soooo much more but thanks for ur uneducated statement! ur concern is much appreciated :hit:

the sound quality is as good if not better than any headunit available, it keeps the stock appearance and controls and can tune the system to whatever needs i need.
its not built for outright DOOF DOOF or high SPL..just nice quality music with crisp bass and sounds.

my mate has done installs on VEs with aftermarket headunits under the factory one, moulded on the dash, etc etc...and by no way is mine a "waste"

sorry I must've missed it but are you still using the 360? I have used several times and love them. Have not fitted one into the VE yet but done a couple into the FGs and three into BMWs. I found them to be simply amazing although tuning can be a pain in the arse with all the different eq settings, end result is definetly worth it though! Lookds good mate. I probably would've lit the sign up a little differently but thats just me!

I would've left the blue neon behind it all but I would've mounted a couple of blue leds into the edges of the actual plexi...this will light up the SS symbol perfectly as if it was suspended. If you interested let me know and I will show you a couple of example of what I mean.

Other then that which is my opinion only, it's a top quality install mate and your mate should consider it a job well done. Also give yourself a pat on the back and listening to him and spending the bills for the job mate ;!

yeah mate running the 360.2.
great unit, love it!
does everything i need and more and yeah its a pain in the ass to tune coz it has sooo many eq settings and stuff but the result is awesome :D

thanks for the tip on the lighting. wouldnt mind seeing what it looks like but i am happy with the current setup..its subtle just like the whole system :)
and to install more things in it we need to take the box out and subs out to access the box!

the perspex is screwed and sikaflexed on....no way is that bastard coming off hahahahaha

yeah mate did an awesome job with the install and truly is a master at the custom stuff. has a good reputation for it.
i helped him where i could between work and designed the setup with him but he definately gets the most credit :D

Hey look, my comments wernt meant to offend... looking at the pictures.. your systems looks very impressive!

I was just really stating from my experiance so far between my factory unit and new head unit the difference is massive.. as even you yourself said.. the factory head unit...has much to be desired.

As I said "almost" I have never heard a stock system with the 3sixty2 in it.( I did some research on it last night.. its got some pretty good reviews -

Perhaps next time i pass you arround town.. I 'll get you to stop and you can show me just how good this unit is... :D maybe.. I'll change my mind... and be convinced to stick with the factory head unit if its as good as you say it is!

The TS-C171PRS - I will post some pics once I am done.. havent got that far yet.. but I will work somethign out... I always almost do! (if not.. I always have my old 6'inch bullets that do fit nicely in there..) - Did you actually try to fit the TS-C171PRS with no luck ?

ah ok sorry it came across as a attack to me.

but yes i heard my stock system sound
then my stereo system setup with a LOC still running straight from the headunit
then my stereo setup with the 3SIXTY.2
so i know the differences.

my mate who did my install also has done ones with the alpine processor and ones with the aftermarket headunits and i couldnt tell the difference between using a aftermarket unit or a processor but then again i aint audio specialist.

feel free to pull me over for a chat and listen always happy to have a chat.
my system was never designed for high spl or anything like that...was all about CLARITY and just CRISP sounds and i love it. any type of music i put on just sounds great and i am more than happy with it.

we never tried to fit the TS-C171PRS on mine but the dimensions meant they would fit and when we put the TS-C131PRS they just fit. customisiing door trim and building spacers etc MAY make them fit.
